Corps Community Center and Auditorium

Community Center

From 2700 Square Feet to 28,000 Square Feet! We are building a tool to serve and bless!

With our Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, August 28, 1999,  the corner of Lander Avenue and South Street will never be the same. Construction of the new facility began in the summer of 2000.

The rented facility we serve in (the former Department of Motor Vehicles) is so small that we are unable to serve effectively. Programs cannot be expanded and services cannot be added. This new facility will allow us to grow to meet needs and serve the Turlock area in many different ways. We hope to partner with other community agencies and churches to be even better at meeting the needs of the hurting.

The Facilities

The building plans include a community center building and an auditorium, together providing 28,345 square feet of space for The Salvation Army's activities. The projected cost for the project is $2,860,000. The fund-raising campaign is well under way, but the goal has not quite been achieved yet. Don't miss your opportunity to participate in providing this greatly-needed facility and programs.

Planned uses for the facility include an expanded emergency food pantry, a youth drop-in center, a senior citizens center, and counseling, tutoring and mentoring programs. In a seperate phase we will be building 80 units of senior citizens' low income housing, called Silvercrest, and in the future a child care center,
